You’re nearly ready to join Eco-Expedition for Families & Groups.

This 5-day eco-expedition is designed for families, individuals and small groups who want to experience the best of tropical Far North Queensland while learning about the ecosystems, wildlife and cultures that make this region so extraordinary.

Based from Cairns, the program combines reef education, snorkelling-based citizen science, rainforest exploration, wildlife observation, cultural learning and guided eco-touring across iconic locations including the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and the Atherton Tablelands.

This is a learning-rich, active experience rather than a standard holiday package. You’ll meet O2E’s conservation team, take part in marine conservation activities, explore ancient rainforest, learn about reef health and climate pressures, and spend time in places where the reef, rainforest and outback landscapes meet.

The program is suitable for families and groups of 4–10 participants. Children are welcome, but they remain the responsibility of their parent or guardian at all times.

This program combines guided eco-touring, environmental education, marine conservation activities, cultural learning and outdoor exploration. It is suitable for a wide range of ages, but it does involve active days, tropical weather, reef conditions and changing outdoor environments.

Please only continue if you understand that:

• this is an eco-expedition with conservation and education components, not a standard resort holiday

• children are the responsibility of their parent or guardian at all times

• participants who cannot swim competently will not be able to take part in in-water activities

• reef and island activities are weather-dependent and may change for safety or operational reasons

• some days may involve early starts, boat travel, walking, swimming, snorkelling or outdoor activities

• ethical interactions with marine life, wildlife, Country and local communities are expected at all times

• cultural experiences should be approached with respect and care

• accommodation is not included unless arranged separately

• lunches are included Monday to Friday, with morning tea, afternoon tea or snacks included on selected days

• safety, weather, local operators and conservation priorities come first
